Welcome to the Venkatraman Memorial Trust
The Venkatraman Memorial Trust provides educational facilities for schoolchildren in the poor fishing village of Kovalam in Tamil Nadu, south India. It was founded by Sylvia Holder in memory of Venkat, whose education she had sponsored, after he was tragically killed in a road accident.
We believe that education is the key to helping these children escape from poverty and the principal aim of the Trust is to improve facilities at the existing primary school. At the same time, through the school, we are working to help improve the well-being of the whole community.
