Sylvia wins The Times Sternberg Award

The Times has announced that Sylvia is the winner of The Sternberg Active Life Award “for her dedication to improving the education of the children of Kovalam, India.”

The prestigious annual award, which is in its fifth year, was established by Sir Sigmund Sternberg, the philanthropist and founder of the Three Faiths Forum, and The Times to recognise outstanding contributions to society and good causes by the over-70s.

The £10,000 prize money is split between the winner, who will receive £5,000, and £1,000 for each of the runners-up. They will collect their awards at a ceremony at No 11 Downing Street which will be held in the spring. Sylvia’s prize will go to a classroom at the new High School.
