High School update

Despite permission being given for the High School when Sylvia visited Kovalam at the beginning of September, there has been yet another bureaucratic glitch. We have been assured that work will get underway very shortly.

There is some good news however. Because of the delay and our supporters’ generosity, we now have more funds available. This means that we can build both storeys of the school at the same time which will accommodate 1000 pupils. The money is in our savings account in Kovalam which gives very much better interest rates than we can get in the UK. Also, the Panchayat School has extended its leaving age by one year so that the first year high school students, under the new headmaster, can stay on there until they can move to the new school.
